but I was then young and my powers of learning were undeveloped, so I did not go, and I have never seen
Kang Yu Wei nor have I ever seen Liang Chi Chao or Sun Yat Sen. But Liang's father is now at Macao. I am acquainted with him. He is a stupid man. Sung Shao Tung took me (and others) to see him, but I did not
venture to meet him, fearing lest he should disclose the secret, and so the party of confederates broken up. Sung Shao Tung had a book of men's names, including those of all the confederates, these being very numerous, including men of the Canton neighbourhood, as well as men of Tsung Hua, Hua Hsien, Shao Ching, Sam Shui. The confederates in Canton are at present making no demonstration, and I think the party is
broken up.
The particulars now stated in this my renewed examination are true and precise.

extradition of Yang Chu Yun I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your despatch of 8th December

On receipt of this I at once ordered investigations
to be made. The chiefs of the Head Police Office
now report as follows:-

It is on record that the Nam Hoi Magistrate sending up the prisoner Yang Hsiang Pu charged in this case, reported that he has been arrested by Ma, Colonel of the Chih Regiment, and that the Magistrate requested that the man might be closely interrogated and dealt with.
